Child & Teen Counseling
Children do not developmentally have the ability to communicate their thoughts and feelings as adults do. Children show us how they are feeling through their behavior. Often times, this behavior can be increasingly challenging and perplexing for parents to handle. Through play, children have the ability to express their innermost thoughts and feelings and therefore can have an outlet. Play therapy provides children with the opportunity to process their emotions and teach them coping skills to face challenges and continue thriving. Through play therapy and parent child psychotherapy, my goal is to help your child process and enhance their emotional development while also strengthening the relationship between parent and child. I make sure you and your child feel safe and comfortable in my space at all times.
Similarly, adolescents are entering an exciting but difficult stage in their lives, and they may have difficulty expressing their thoughts and feelings resulting in challenging behavior. Adolescence is composed of discovering their individuality and working their way towards independence. This time in their lives may be more challenging if it also involves difficulties at school, with peers or at home. Counseling can provide your teen with a healthy outlet to not only express their feelings but also work through any challenges they may be facing. This may result in improved behavior at home and at school. Through teen counseling, I make sure that your teen feels safe and not judged to help them navigate through this thrilling but challenging stage in their life.
